Our researchers among the world's best: outstanding performance in Stanford/Elsevier's lifetime achievement rankings
Researchers at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Pécs contribute significantly to the international recognition of Hungarian scientific life. This is evidenced by the annual ranking of scientific achievements published by the renowned Stanford University and Elsevier, called "World's Top 2% Scientists," in which the faculty's teachers and researchers are represented in outstanding numbers.
Stanford University and Elsevier use the Scopus database to examine the impact of researchers' publications across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields. The list is based on scientific output, using complex scientometric indicators (e.g., citations, Hirsch index, author position) to create a composite c-score ranking. This compilation of nearly 200,000 names represents the top two percent of the scientific fields examined.
Seven of the 22 PTE citizens listed in the ranking are researchers at our faculty:
Dr. Éva Hideg, research professor at the Institute of Biology
Dr. László Kollár, research professor at the Institute of Chemistry
Dr. János Hebling, research professor at the Institute of Physics
Dr. János Bergou, professor emeritus at the Institute of Physics
Dr. Attila Felinger, full professor at the Institute of Chemistry
Dr. Gábor Lente, full professor at the Institute of Chemistry
Dr. Szergej Kuhlevszkij, full professor at the Institute of Physics
This ranking does not measure momentary successes, but reflects the results of consistent, high-quality research work over the past decades. We are proud that the faculty's scientific community contributes to the development of domestic and international science to such an extent.
