FAQ about the central services (Neptun, Teams, Eduroam)

Frequently Asked Questions about the central authentication and the related services

Please note that the central authentication and the related services (Neptun, Eduroam, Teams etc.) are not hosted by the Computing and Education Technology Center of Faculty of Sciences, so we cannot help you to solve your problems further than the hints given below.

1. I cannot login to Neptun, what should I do?

  • Remove Eduroam from the known networks on your devices. If you do not do this, your account may be locked again after changing the password. For similar reasons, it is also recommended to logout from Teams.

  • Go to the website password.pte.hu and follow the instructions for Change a forgotten password or unlock a locked account. This only works if your mobile phone number or e-mail address is registered in Neptun. If neither is, ask the Registrar's Office to register. It is recommended that you enter the password you think is correct into the Last known password (optional) field.

  • Once you have successfully unlocked and/or changed your password, you can reconfigure the Eduroam network on your devices. It may take a few hours before you can login to Teams again.

If you still have not solved your login problem following the steps above, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

2. Eduroam WiFi does not work on my device, what should I do?

Check if you can login to Neptun.

  • If you cannot login to Neptun, follow the instructions in section 1.

  • If you can login to Neptun but you are asked to change your password, follow the instructions to change it. Before you do this, remove Eduroam from the known networks on your devices. If you do not do this, your account may be locked again after changing your password. After you successfully change your password in Neptun, try to connect to Eduroam with the new one. If it still does not work, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

  • If you can login to Neptun without changing your password, remove Eduroam from the known networks on your device and try to configure it again. If it does not work after that, install the geteduroam app (available on Android/iOS/Windows) and try to configure it with it. If it still does not work, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

3. I cannot login to Teams, what should I do?

Check if you can login to Neptun.

  • If you cannot login to Neptun, follow the instructions in section 1.

  • If you can login to Neptun but you are asked to change your password, follow the instructions to change it, then try to login to Teams with the new one. If it does not work, wait a few hours and try again. If you still cannot login, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

  • If you can login to Neptun without changing your password, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

4. Two-factor authentication (2FA) does not work in Neptun

Contact the Registrar's Office and ask them to turn off 2FA. Then login to Neptun and turn on 2FA again (My Data > Settings > Two-factor authentication). If this does not help, contact the central Service Desk at sd.

5. Two-factor authentication (2FA) does not work in Teams

Contact your study administrative officer via e-mail.
