The 5th edition of the Charity Day was organised by the Institute of Sports Science and Physical Education

The Charity Day of the Institute of Sports Science and Physical Education was held on 6 December 2023 to support the Children's Clinic of Pécs.

The University of Pécs, Faculty of Science, Institute of Sports Science and Physical Education attaches great importance to social responsibility, and this year is the fifth year that the Institute has organised a charity day during the Christmas period.

This year, the Institute aimed to support the children recovering at the Children's Clinics of Pécs and the medical staff who treat them steadfastly, and that is why the event was held on Santa Claus Day.

During the event, hundreds of university students, staff and citizens of Pécs supported the EURAKVILO Children's Oncology and Hospice Foundation with toys, chocolates, children's clothes or donations. Furthermore, colleagues from the Institute of Sports Sciences and Physical Education helped to renew two hospital kitchens with electronic equipment.

The organiser of the event, Dr. Gergely Marton, evaluated the event:

On behalf of myself, the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Pécs and its Institute of Sports Science and Physical Education, we would like to express our gratitude to all those who came and contributed to this successful event.

I would especially like to thank the students of the Sports Science courses, who once again showed exemplary solidarity and came together as a real "family" for the sick children, and the students, teachers and staff of other faculties of the PTE, as well as the citizens of the city, who also contributed to the success of the event.

All in all, we collected thousands of toys and chocolates for the Clinic on Santa Claus Day and raised a very significant amount of donations for the Children's Oncology and Hospice Foundation.

On behalf of myself and my colleagues, thank you so much for supporting this very charitable cause and together we have brought joy to many children!
