Dr. Jane Goodall, the world-renowned British ethologist, anthropologist, and animal rights activist, who became famous for her detailed accounts of the lives of wild chimpanzees in East Africa, has passed away.
On October 1, at 7 p.m. Hungarian time, the Jane Goodall Institute announced that the world-renowned researcher, ethologist, and honorary doctor of the University of Pécs had passed away peacefully in her sleep. "Dr. Goodall's ethological discoveries revolutionized science, and she was a tireless champion of the protection and restoration of our environment," they wrote in their post.
Dr. Jane Goodall had been an honorary doctor of the University of Pécs since March 10, 2005. She visited Pécs in 2010 at the invitation of the university. In 2021, she greeted PTE graduates in a personal video.
