What visitors say about us?
In the spring of 2025, we welcomed a group of visiting Mathematics students from Nanjing University, China! Here is what they think about their trip.

During my educational visit to Hungary, I not only gained valuable knowledge, but I was also deeply touched by Hungary's unique cultural atmosphere. From the cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence course at the University of Pécs, to the discovery of the mysterious terahertz laboratory, and the round-table discussions between the Faculty of Science and the International Student Recruitment Office, every experience was an inspiration.
We also visited the outstanding research institutions and innovative companies of the city of Pécs.
The fascinating lectures of and the direct, thought-provoking dialogues with the professors of the University of Pécs showed me the special values of small-scale education. The precise instruments and the serious research atmosphere of the Hungarian National Laboratory of
Virology made me feel the power of scientific progress in other countries. And the ancient
relics of the Hungarian National Museum told the story of the past through the voice of history
- the rich historical heritage and the mesmerizing cultural aura were completely enchanting.

The educational visit to the University of Pécs made a very deep impression on me. While walking around the campus, I was strongly imbued with the academic atmosphere: whether it was the friendly openness I experienced in conversations with strangers or the ubiquitous learning scenes, every experience was memorable.
I was also impressed by the design of the campus, with many meticulously planned rest and study areas providing opportunities for in-depth work. Not only was the library full of students, but I also saw many people studying in depth at the comfortably placed tables and chairs everywhere. The open and free learning environment at the University of Pécs was particularly inspiring.

During the five-day educational visit to Hungary, I was not only exposed to cutting-edge science, but also gained a deeper understanding of the richness of the local education system and cultural heritage. In classes at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Pécs, I experienced how algorithms evolve with data input. In the terahertz lab, when the researchers used THz waves to “see through” the samples and create images of them, physics suddenly became tangible and real for me.
While visiting local research institutes and companies, I was fascinated by state-of-the-art scientific advances such as innovations in reproductive medicine and virus inactivation technologies. In front of Petőfi's statue on the banks of the Danube, whose inscription shines brightly at the touch of visitors, I was suddenly reminded of Pécs Cathedral:
does each of its bricks preserve the rise and fall of civilisations from different eras?
When the development of artificial intelligence is driven by a human perspective, when
physical experiments are linked to real needs, when research crosses disciplinary boundaries -
then knowledge truly comes alive. For me, these five days have been like a prism through
which the essence of science has emerged in a new light, infused with human warmth.
